Kitchen cabinets

Now that we have our kitchen cabinets, we wanted to get them installed. As I have no cabinet making experience and time is definitely not on our side we decided to get someone in. Bryan from Marshall Cabinets was available so he came out to have a look and then on Thursday and Friday he got to work.

It's a bit like a crazy jigsaw puzzle where you have to cut up the pieces to make them fit! So after working out a plan together, Bryan got to work and fit the main parts of the kitchen into the right spots. It's a great fit and perfect to be able to re-use someone's off-cast kitchen. It's really exciting seeing it in place too and once the plumbing and electrical fit offs are done we can whip up lunches on site using something other than the toasted sandwich device. To finish it I need to install some kind of lip and shelf to stop liquid flowing over the edge and on to our low wall. Time to find more nice recycled timber at the right size.

While this was happening I fit the deck bearers to the north side. I must have purchased the timber for this job a year ago, so to finally use it is brilliant and relieving. Bring on the decking now! Mind you, before I do that I have some rendering to do. My birthday was on Saturday and I decided it was fun day - so I cut up another cabinet to size and got the bench top ready to go into position. It was fun too, certainly wasn't on a speed mission. So now that that has mostly taken shape I can look at getting the en-suite on and sweet. Maybe eBay will play it's part there too, we already have our basin so now it's just the shower. Just. Ha!
