So now that I've been able to really get into some rendering, as opposed to before when I was co-ordinating other people and doing pre-render work, I've discovered that it really is my favourite part of the process so far. The hypnotic spin of the mixer, the pleasantly mindless application of mud to a vertical surface and getting quite covered in mud are all very nice indeed. It's a more organic task than anything else on the build. And it's getting us closer to the finish line. To think that the interior will almost be completely rendered by the end of this weekend is a great thought.

Next we need to think about ceilings, fitting cabinets and showers amongst other things. As always, speed and economy are of the essence. We think we have a solution with the ceiling to give us both, and not compromise fire safety or insulation.  More about that later.

Today I managed to sell our surplus of bales to the local farm supplies shop and clear some space in the house. At last! We had a few bales that we have held on to as they were covered in render or otherwise damaged, but I'm sure we'll be able to put them to good use. Now I can see from one end of the lounge to the other. It's a very different vibe since I last had a clear line of sight from end to end. It looks great.

So with a hot week forecast I'll be aiming to start earlier and try for a wee siesta in height of the heat. Anything to survive the heat and stay productive. I'd better get back out there ... into the good mud.
