There are so many amazing things that have come about in the process of building this house. Most of them relate to people. The list of complete strangers who come and help us build continues to grow. One day I want to be able to do a week of visiting people who have helped us out to see the results of their own house building experience. That would be an emotional experience I imagine, as taking on building a house with your own hands is not a common thing to do. Or is it? These amazing people keep coming out of the woodwork! I'd like to think that we've been able to offer some valuable experience, impetus and inspiration to our fellow strawbale owner builders. We also have friends who have just come because they want to help and spend time with us, and contribute to our building. You are all exstrawdinary!

Over the last week we've had Alan and Lucy, freshly married and right into building mode; Ben and Jasmine, who came from the other side of Melbourne and would have continued working until midnight if we hadn't stopped them and Logan, a fellow Kiwi living over in Victoria but planning his own strawbale house back in Wanaka, New Zealand. No two of these people are the same but all share a willingness and competence which makes it a total pleasure to have them on site. Your help makes a massive difference to us.

We are pushing on towards a revised first render coat date of the 10th and 11th of October. It seems like a long way away but we do have a lot of things to do. Frustratingly, we have questions that we need answers to but Brian has been out of the country for weeks and any jobs related to those questions have to wait until he returns. So it's a question of planning out what can be done so that when we have the answers we can rip right into action.

The next exstrawdinary thing is Natasha. 24 weeks pregnant and up a ladder fixing wire netting on to stud walls. I'm sure it's not recommended behaviour for this stage of pregnancy but try and stop her! She is not a person to sit around watching things go by. You are an amazing person in so many ways.

Another exstrawdinary thing is me! What business do I have building a house? Well I have the same capabilities as almost anyone, so if you are trying to decide whether to take on something like this, go for it. It is an amazing opportunity for growth and for surrounding yourself with an incredible community of people.

One last note. We had a fantastic 27mm of rain on Monday night, the most we've had since we started to build, which has pushed our 21,000 litre tank up to 4/5 full. I think it's just over a month since we put it in. It shows how much pressure could be taken off reservoirs if more people harvested the water from their roof. It will be overflowing before we move in. Amazing. Exstrawdinary!
