It feels like a mega-countdown. Tomorrow is our last day for cleaning up, finishing walls and getting our plastic down on the floor (to save clean up time after rendering). Trimming_and_shaping_around_windows.jpg

We've both been surprised at how many walls we have managed to finish, especially the time-consuming tops of walls, inside and out, where we have had to shape, wire and stuff the gaps between the top boxing and the rafters. Not to mention the dropped rolled heads and shaping around windows. Some serious hours have been put into the preparation of these walls for rendering.  The only walls that won't be ready for pump rendering this weekend, are on east end, but we can render those by hand later, and all will be groovy. There is absolutley no way we would be any where near the stage we are at with the walls, without the mammoth help we have had over the last few weeks - so much was done on the weekend with our fabulous teams, and then we had super-star Logan one day this week, and he managed to get heaps done in very cold conditions! Thank you one and all!

On a lighter note, my sister Katrina called Peter yesterday to let him know that ABC radio had a show on about things people could build/make with their hands. Peter called them up and they were very interested, so they called back and Peter had a great chat with Richard Stubbs about the house, and even managed to mention our website. As a result, we had a squillion more visitors on our site yesterday, and some really lovely emails from people who heard the show, checked out our website and wanted to wish us well or come and help. Amazing stuff. We are very thankful to have been able to spread the word about straw bale.

So after more planning and thinking tonight, we are ready for 3 big days, and very excited (and nervous) about how we will go with our first coat of render. Trust is not only recommended, but I think in this case, a necessity!
