Peter and Natasha

It's been a while between blogs! At 39 weeks pregnant my physical contribution to the build is pretty much at zero, as maximum rest and taking care of my growing belly has been the order of the day. Today I spent some time resting and snoozing on the futon couch/bed in our bedroom-to-be at the house, and it was bliss! It was lovely to lay back and admire the walls, the texture and colour in the room, looking out the window at our beautiful view and noticing how the light felt in the room.

And what a home it is turning out to be. We have well and truely given up our attachment to our 'we SHOULD be in the house by now" thoughts, and have surrendered to the journey, both of when we will be able to move in, and when our baby will be born. I am due on Saturday 9th Jan and am in no hurry, the baby will know when it is time.

There has been some great progress on the house, and Peter is doing an amazing job plugging away and keeping things moving. Today we thankfully had Cam and Leora come to help us, which always speeds things up and lifts our spirits. They are in the midst of getting their planning permit to build their straw bale house in Selby and we love hearing about their progress and aspirations. 

Yesterday our photographer friends Ben and Magnolia came out to do a photo shoot at the house, mainly of my expanding belly, and they loved the ambience and light that the house and block provided. It was very fitting that the shoot was at the house, as it has been such a big part of our lives over the last 15 months or so. 

Peter commented on how (once he had stopped working to have the photos taken), lovely it was to be was able to appreciate and see the house in different ways during the photo shoot. It's lovely to stop and take in the feeling of the house. Magnolia commented on how the house smelt and felt, noticing that there was very little toxicity/fumey stuff in our place, as she is very sensitive to it.

So with fresh appreciation for the amazing home we are building, we have created a new context for the build, rather than the default "there's still so much to do" one we have had recently and that is that "every day we are a day closer to moving in and enjoying our new home".

After all, there really is so much to appreciate!

Loved being there today! Looking forward to next time.     It was warmish outside and even with the lack of doors and seals around windows it was much cooler inside, reading the thermometer as well as feeling the difference! Summer heat in the Marsh How I have sympathy for both you and Pete in the oppressive Australian summer heat! A sign of what you're faced with might be the thermometer up against the wall in that picture of the bed.    It's great to see a real live piece of furniture in the house though. Very, very exciting!
