It's great when our focus goes from something like "Oh my god, how are we possibly going to get all this work done by 10th Oct", to "How blessed are we to have such amazing people in our lives who contribute so much to us!" That's what has happened this weekend.
It really is incredible the amount of time, effort, imagination and thoughfulness that our friends, family (and not forgetting the people we have just met), have contributed to us. There are SO MANY ideas and suggestions that have made a massive difference to our build, and I just realised today that we have been really open to it.
My mum has come down so many times to cater for some of our bigger weekends, and to not have to worry about food is such a god-send. She made our all our lunches both days, and we got home from building at 7pm tonight, happily exhausted, knowing that we didn't have to worry about cooking - mum had left lots of yummies for us - sounds simple, but it means so much when we have had such a big week. And then there is my sister Katrina, and niece Claire. Katrina has been working lots of weekends of late, and what does she do when she gets a weekend free? She comes and stays the whole weekend and builds with us - and has worked like an absolute trojan and Trini, thanks so much for your manual staple idea! And Claire, who has just turned 9, loves building with us, and her keenness to do whatever we ask her to do, seems endless!
There really are too many people to mention, but I do want to thank Mel - she came last weekend and this weekend and is an absolute machine, with stacks of really great ideas about very practical things about the house - Mel you are irrepressible!
So tonight's mission is to assess where we are at, and where we think we will realistically get to before rendering on Saturday 10th and then tomorrow we will talk to Brad our pump renderer about the practicalities of not being able to render every single wall (majority will be ready though) next weekend. All resolvable, and I am sure the high we are currently on from being ' loved up' all weekend by friends and family will help us sleep very soundly tonight.
