One day to go until the 2nd coat of render. I have to say I've been having thoughts this past week along the lines of, "if I never see chicken wire or straw again, it will be too soon" - liberally sprinkle swear words in there too, you'll get the vibe. In some part of my brain I thought doing the walls would be a good fun week or two but of course, nothing is so easy in this owner building game. But there came a stage in the week where two things happened.
Firstly, we decided that if nothing more was done before the weekend, that would be fine so all the finishing off and preparation is a bonus. Secondly, Natasha insisted on me taking a day off yesterday. Admittedly, it's been a few weeks since a proper day off so that should be an easy choice but I did feel like maybe I could get that little bit more done and that now was not the time for a break. Well, it was. I spent the day catching up on paperwork and doing shopping for the weekend, and generally doing stuff that had been mounting up. Next I lay in the hammock as unforecasted almost monsoonal rain came from nowhere, complete with hours of thunder and I read a book. It felt like a tropical holiday. So I'm a lot more relaxed now. As with last rendering weekend, there will more to do than just the rendering. I'm still working on the outside of the sub-floor, in fact I've not devoted nearly enough time to it but with an extra hand or two it's quite achievable in quick time. So beckons another wacky variety performance of a weekend, bound to be entertaining and educational. Let's go!
