We have been having a bit of reality check this week - in relation to how long this house is likely to take to build. We were originally very optimistic about being in the house by winter - this is highly unlikely! The big factor for us to get our heads around, has been the additional time it is taking to do almost everything - due to the shape and angles of the house. Way longer in fact, but now that we have surrendered to this REALITY, things seem to be flowing much better.
The flow on effect of the "not a rectangular box" shape of our house is
now quite evident. At the same time it is great to see the shape and
size of the rooms of the house now, as we attach the joists which show
the outline of the walls - where we will be laying down the straw
bales. So we are bracing ourselves for a cold winter in the Convent -
not too bad once we get used to it, and this time I am insisting on an
electric blanket on our bed!
Thank you to those of you who are reading this blog and sending us your words of support, we really appreciate it!
