I remember an exercise at a cheesy staff training weekend I had when I worked in radio, it was showing the value of doing groundwork before jumping into action. The rest of the weekend was rubbish (not enough beer) but that lesson always stuck with me. Today was a day for using that approach.
While it may look from the outside like nothing is happening, the
measuring and planning is working towards a better overall result. So
when it came time to put on the joists, everything was measured and
marked and we nailed them fast! We did 13 joists today and I know that
if our house design was more squareish we could have done many more.
But we ain't no squares!
There are a few odd quandaries to solve before we can finish our joists
and move on to flooring. But I've also remembered that now would be a
good time to get Greg our electrician back for some under house work
before the floor goes on, and the same goes for the plumbing. Lets
hope they're not booked out all month. This "thinking ahead" thing is
perhaps my greatest personal challenge on this build. Just ask Tarsh!
