What a weekend we’ve had! Our dingo digger maestro (Stuart) assisted
us in moving around 20 cubic metres of clean fill (in 150mm lots) into
our trenches and massive holes, whilst Peter took on the temperamental
‘whackers’ otherwise known as tampers, compacting the soil back into
our concrete padded holes.
Then we marked out the position of the stumps (we are getting very good
at this by now, third time lucky) ready for stump hole drilling with
Stuart on Sunday. Aygun, amazing and reliable as ever, arrived Saturday
after lunch …. he really has been a saviour for us. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
We had my mum assisting us, particularly on Sunday morning, and once
again filling our fridge with food and ready-made scrumptious meals….
and then came some wonderful surprises on Sunday afternoon….Matt and
Corinne and Sienna, then Sam and Paul and Finn, and then Damian with
the twins, Minnie and Claire arrived. It was divine – in a few short
hours we had 12 stumps in – it was incredible.
It really was like letting wild animals out of the cage, Sam and
Corinne and Matt were like maniacs! They were so into it that we really
just had to get out of their way. Physical work can do that to a person
– careful, it can get addictive! Then we had Ari work all day with
Peter yesterday, and they got another 11 stumps in – unbelievable.
Our building consultant Brian keeps telling us that things will get
more enjoyable when the stumps are complete….. we are already having
fun, so we look forward to upping the anti!
