It's usually when I'm in the middle of the perfect straight cut with the circular saw that the flies buzz in front of my eyes. Otherwise all my cutting would be totally excellent. No really, I'm sure that's why. They sure are friendly flies out here, every one of them. I think there must be a lot we could learn from them, except for the hanging around on kangaroo droppings part.
There have been a few days of chopping and changing the timber schedule as I get a better understanding of how everything fits together and what the necessary building standards are (and I make sure I have got the timber sizes right - no expensive mistakes please). It's amazing, if I went back 3 years there is no way my eyes would not glaze over when somebody started talking about this kind of stuff. Now it seems to occupy every little part of my brain, yes even the drinking beer part. OK, maybe not the Formula 1 part though. When I'm not looking at what's next I'm still messing around with the fiddly parts of the flooring, but now it's just the bathroom and 2 bedrooms to do. I think I will need a few more sheets of flooring, as the funny shape of the house has produced many off-cuts which are less than useful. Today has not been a day of my best workmanship unfortunately and I repeated my falling through the floor trick today although the fall was not so far and the injuries not so bad (I swapped knees). I know that even in my clumsy moments out there by myself that the flies still love me.
