Another brilliant contribution from Ivan over a few days has lead to the near completion of our ring beams. Just one small section remains. It's going to be big weekend that will test my organisational abilities, as we have lots of timber arriving and lots of new things to embark on and some extra hands to embarkify.
Over the weekend I want to have the central ridge beams on and some internal walls up. This also means finishing marking out the location of all the walls which is exciting, and even better of course when they really are walls.
The neighbours house is going up so fast that I'm almost jealous, it's amazing what can be achieved with a couple of experienced operators and some pre-fabricated timber trusses. So much action in one week, it went from being just a slab to having walls and rafters up.
We've had good news from the council, with our permit arriving allowing us to install a compostible toilet. We didn't know if we'd get this through a couple of months ago but when we got into a conversation with the Moorabool Council and Western Water things turned around from some of the answers we got at first. So the application went in recently and came though fine and in good time too.
On a side note, we experienced something I'm used to but didn't expect in Victoria. An earthquake! Woohoo! It went on for about 10 seconds or more and really rolled the house and shook things in a gentle reminder kind of way. The earth is still alive.
