The wet face washer has been my very best friend this week. Works wonders on a hot body, I was using it today on the build as well. Man, that heat! We slept in our tent last night (thanks for the idea Tim and Trine) - it was quite lovely, under the stars and all. On our verandah. At least 15 degrees cooler than inside the convent that's for sure.
Thankfully we did have a serious temperature drop, and at the land today the breeze was our saviour, and it only got to 30. We put on about 45 noggins today, and the joists are feeling much more secure and safer to walk around on. I've missed being at the land, a whole 5 days since I've been there. Luckily, I haven't seen this notorious huntsman spider in the toilet - dare I say.... yet.
So once we have finished putting all the noggins on, we will trim the ends off the joists to make them uniform, take down the joist height in the bathrooms by 25mm, and then we are ready to put the insulation in. It's taking us a while to decide on the insulation. It needs to be bulk, but there are many factors to take into consideration, such as recycled content, health factors (some can be a bit toxic to handle and off-gas yuckily) and what it's made of - but it's nearly crunch time so we have to decide... meantime I am quite enjoying the hammering and very much enoying my new tool belt!
On a sad note, some the our trees we planted are looking a bit worse for wear from this hot wind, and my worm farm at the convent is in dire straits most have died - nothing I could do to cool them down in this heat, as the convent is not much cooler than outside. Still, we're lucky there have been no fires in the area, and no power failures for us.. this heat is a wake up call - our planet is getting hotter.
