Peter and I were watching the on-line rain radar yesterday afternoon when we got back from building. There were several patches of serious rain coming our way, but as per normal, Bacchus Marsh missed it. We predicted that rain and excessive heat might stop us building during our journey, but really didn't factor in the wind. Peters_amazing_framework.jpg

The wind at 128 Possumtail Run really is quite amazing. It's stopped us doing lots of work, from stumps and foundations (string lines didn't stand a chance) to the roof. In fact, it's stopped work more than rain and heat combined.

I am constantly amazed at how Peter can be up on the ladder and on the roof in that wind, but he assures me that he is being extremely careful. Yesterday was incredibly windy - gale force in fact, and although all our work was on the ground, some gusts of wind literally blew us off our feet. When I was sitting in the port-a-loo, I was convinced we were about to take off!

After battling in the wind, we cut the day short at about 2.30pm, as the wind was wearing us down. It was perfect timing, as it was about all the energy I could muster. Gosh it was good to get back out there building with Peter in the fresh air - the nausea has started to dissipate thanks to Vivienne and her homeopthic remedies.  YAY!

It's been a farily tough few weeks for Peter and I, we seem to have peaks and troughs in our emotional capacity to owner-build, so I think once the roof and external walls are up, we'll take a few days off to recuperate and pamper our minds and bodies (particularly Peter's, he's been doing some hard yakka). In the meantime I just keep telling Peter how amazing he is.

It's still quite windy today, and Peter is out there again, up the ladder (and being careful of course). Now we just have to hope that the wind is fairly light when we are putting the roof on - only time will tell, and since we can't do anything about it, we will just trust that it will all work out!
