Tour de France

In some ways I liken the building of our house to the Tour de France. It occurs in sections, each of which can produce an outright victory but all must be completed in order to move on to the next stage. It's hard on the body and will result in strains and/or injuries. The equipment required is specialised. And while winning is fantastic, just finishing is a huge achievement.

At present I'm hurtling towards the line of our straw baling weekend. I have all of the bottom, intermediate and top boxing to assemble and also external doors and window frames to put together. Also we are getting some of our piles of earth and rock shifted out of the way so that the truck with the straw bales can do it's delivery. They arrive on Thursday and if that's not exciting, what is?

I found there was something really special about contributing to buidling Ari's house last year and I hope all involved get the same experience. If you are coming - bring warm clothing! You never know what the weather will do in Merrimu, t-shirts one minute and rain jackets the next.
