Weather has been awesome all this week. I've been pushing on with the rafters and it has been uncommonly still which is exactly what I want for moving big lengths on to beams by myself. Having said that, I had a visit on Wednesday from Jeremy and his son Tahi who helped get some rafters up and also took a few photos and some video. Great company, always inspiring and hilarious.
As of this evening I have just two more rafters to get up and that's the the end of that. Wow, what a great looking roofline. Driving up the road towards the house it looms up and I get quite excited to think that this crazy construction is going to be our home. I'm not the best at visualising things from plans, so to see it revealing itself is fantastic. I have ordered timber for the purlins, or battens, call them what you will, and I'm ready to go with some roof bracing once the rafters are all done. Then there is a bunch of tidying up, such as trimming ends off certain rafters and adding fascia where needed, specifically everywhere but on the north side veranda area. We still haven't finalised a roofing contractor or plumber but we're getting closer to sorting that out. It's funny, all these things involving lots of money still make me nervous, mind you it would be possible to blow the entire size of our budget on a big party and have nothing but a hangover to show for it the next day, so I think I'll take the house. It's a good way to spend money. If I have to.
