So with the roof remaining intact we've been able to proceed with the installation of the gutters, which is a huge relief. Without guttering on, the water just runs straight down from the roof to form a very muddy circle around the house. Not only is this messy, but with our soil classification we don't want that kind of saturation close to the building. Currently the gutter is 80% done and the water is coming out away from the building. In a few days we should have our new water tank and we can start to harvest the water from our wonderful roof.

We are still working to get the walls built up to rafter height, the intermediate boxing is all done and it's now a question of baling up a bit more to even out the gap and then fit top boxing. Making the top boxing is pretty easy compared to the bottom and intermediate boxing. So the walls ought to be finished soon although there are many jobs on at once right now. One job is to prepare a level 4m square base for our water tank (on sloping land), another is to do more work around the clerestory windows and on the outriggers which provide these windows with eaves. We also want to get started on our internal walls. Once we have begun this process we'll be able to estimate how long it will take and do a decent estimate at rendering dates.

One area that has stalled a bit lately has been the issue of windows. They are not cheap. At present, for the louvre windows we need we're looking at over $1000 per window. I'm taking out shares in a window manufacturing company.
