After meeting with a plumber last Sunday we said let's do it! So it's been a busy week, starting to fix the purlins on to the rafters and getting the plumbing started on Wednesday. As our plumber also does roofing there has been plenty of helpful advice and many pertinent questions to answer before we can get our roof started.
The week felt like it really started on Wednesday with the timber for the purlins arriving the night before and the plumbing beginning. There are so many decisions to make about the plumbing, where everything will go, what's on tank water and what's on town supply, what height everything needs to be and more. It's quite permanent. So lets hope it all works. I called Natasha at work quite a few times for conferring, answers and confirmation. After two days of plumbing we've got all of the rough in done and most of the suspended sewer done. The next visit will finish that off and get the grey water unit in there. Purlins. 4 done in 3 days. I need to move a bit faster but I'm a believer in working out the best way to do something so that nothing has to be redone (or as little as possible) and then picking up speed. I can't wait for the picking up speed part, because I get the feeling I can get this part done pretty quickly once I get going. Once they are all done there are many fiddly framing tasks to do before we can present it to the inspector but we do hope to have the roof started in a couple of weeks. Any extra hands will certainly accelerate the process. So if you are nearby and have an itchy hammer hand, come on over! A final thought for Michael Jackson, we have used several of his best tracks as theme songs on this build. Music makes a big difference to the vibe and three songs in particular - Off The Wall, Working Day and Night and Get On The Floor, all from the album Off The Wall - have given us a soundtrack to our build. We're both sad to hear of his death. I can feel a Michael Jackson appreciation day (or week) coming on at the building site. Shamon!
