Life has its funny ways. Patience is a virtue they say, and it's a quality I've not been particularly rich in. Over the past 7 weeks or so I have been pretty scarce on the building site - and for good reason - I'm pregnant, and 24-hour nausea has kept me resting and horizontal more than usual. It's also pretty much forced me to develop some more patience!
Peter and I are so thrilled to be expecting, and I am very wellhealth-wise apart from feeling tired and nauseous (pretty normalpregnant stuff), so we are counting our lucky stars. I am constantly inawe of Peter and his determination, hard work, and skill in buildingour house. For a guy who had rarely picked up a hammer (to put in anail to hang a picture) he really is doing a fantastic job. Needless tosay, at 13 weeks, I am hanging out for the nausea to dissapear so I canget stuck into some straw bale wall buiding! In a way it's been good timing, as Peter is up on the roof, up anddown ladders all the time and there's not a great deal for me to do atthe moment. This, however, is about to change! Next week the roof willstart going on, and then our bales will arrive and we will be puttingup our walls. So, whilst I have been resting and having lots of'couch-time' Peter has been building away and doing a magnificent jobgetting our roof ready. The building of the external straw bale walls is really one of theleast time consuming, but most fun (and satisfying) parts of the build, and it also signals a turning point in the build, getting nearer tolock up stage. I hardly imagine how we are going to feel once the roofis on and the straw bale walls are up. Bring it on!
