We had a great day on Tuesday getting a good portion of the south side of the roof on. Now I would estimate that 80 percent of the roof is on and it provides weather protection for the majority of the house now. That's a big relief. It's been a long time coming! What remains now is to finish off the ends of the roof, which involves a lot of cutting sheets to fit our unique shape and is therefore more time consuming than just laying on sheets as normal. From there we'll get on the capping, flashing and gutters. 11_Aug_from_driveway.jpg

On Wednesday I started a bit late but I was on a mission to get more intermediate boxing done. I conquered the troublesome section that was annoying me on the weekend (what a difference a bit of fresh perspective can make) and did two other sections. Shortly this will all be done and we can bridge the gap to the ring beams and we'll have full height walls. Then on to the internal Kram walls. All under cover, no off days due to wind or rain. Luxury!

Another task that I'm looking forward to is preparing a base for our water tank. I need to make a level base of about 4m square. I'll be using rock and some of our cypress pine offcuts to frame it. Then, once we get the tank on, we can start collecting water from our beautiful expanse of roof. I worked until after darkness had fallen on Wednesday to get things protected from rain, and when the rain came I was amazed at how a light rain can generate a lot of water. So we will be keeping our dependence on town water to a minimum. It's all part of the plan.
