It's been a lovely weekend. Peter and I really enjoyed working together yesterday, and today we had lots of lovely visitors. Whilst I had some rest at home this morning, Alan and Peter started getting ready to stuff internal walls. After a trip to the shops to get the right gauge staple gun, we were in business. Alan and his wife to be Lucy (good luck with the wedding next weekend guys) who are fellow straw bale builders in Halls Gap are building a similar type straw bale house to ours, and it has been great to connect with them.
Nicole also arrived with her two beautiful girls, and pretty soon we were stuffing the walls to our heart's content. No probs if it rained, we just kept on going (gosh we love that roof!). Then we had a visit from David and Judith who are also straw bale owner-builders. The last time they saw the house we didn't even have the floor on, so it was great to get their perspective on how far we had come. And then there is our new addition to the house - our fabulous retro green vinyl divan which has taken pride of place in our kitchen. We picked it up from Ben who was offering the divan, in very good condition I might add (and another one we picked up for a friend) through Freecycle. Freecycle is such a fantastic network, and it is absolutely gob-smacking the kinds of things other people are giving away - and there are groups all over the world. I can see us spending some lovely times sitting on the divan in the sun on our north decking when we are living in the house. So on the agenda now is preparing the spot where our water tank will go, (arriving soon) and lots more wall stuffing. Many hands welcome, it's quite fun (yes, i would say that!). And I know it may sound like a cliche, but I just have to say it - wow, what an incredible journey we are on!
