The weather was  - you guessed it - hot and windy! It was 35˚ (95˚f) and just too windy to be very efficient up a ladder. We got one more ridge beam section up, but there are still 5 sections to go with 4 of them being very heavy 290mm x 45mm and 5 metres long. In hardwood. That all means it's really something to try and lift a few metres off the ground in any circumstance but in the the wind these things are like spinnakers. We had to give up on that idea.

I did have one fun moment with my ladder, which was standing a bit shallow and in a flash the floor came up to meet me as the ladder slipped on it's feet. I grabbed hold of the nearest piece of timber - a brace for a post - and my hands slid down it with a painful amount of friction. Minor friction burns to my hands but thankfully they have toughened up a lot over the last few months so the damage, although very uncomfortable at the time, was minimal. Ladder 1, Peter 0. Lesson learnt.

The upshot of the day was that all posts were up by the end of the day as well as having all ring beams in need of replacement getting redone. So that's Peter 2, Ring Beams and Posts United 0 (although it was a bit of a rematch). A good time to get that done as I'll be spending less time at the build over the next few weeks as I'm going to be back to work, earning money and keeping my hand in at what I'm trained to do. So from here, every weekend opportunity has to be taken and maximised. I can feel the weather preparing to be on it's best behaviour.
