What an incredible journey this is. We have had the most amazing Easter weekend. As far as we knew, we had Phil coming to help us build on Friday and Saturday, which we were pretty excited about.... but then we had Ari (and her two border collies) part of Friday, Saturday and today (yippeeee) and visits from Brenton & Cindy on Saturday, AND we had Leora and Cam (who we have never met before) who are on their own straw bale building journey come today and we've all had a fantastic day.
It really is like an amazing community we are surrounded by and part of..... and it's really moving and inspiring to experience the generosity and willingness from our friends and family, and from people we have never met before. It astounds us and is almost overwhelming. Sitting around the table tonight talking over our yummy fried rice, listening to Leora & Cam (www.camleora.id.au ) talking about their dreams and their experiences, and Ari (http://web.me.com/summerfilmschool/Site/Photos.html#grid) and her amazingly gutsy building journey, I was reminded of how lucky we are.
To have this opportunity to build our own home, and to learn from others along the way, and to inspire and teach others as well, is a very special added bonus I had not considered. We have achieved so much this weekend. We got more walls up today, and we can see the size and shape of our bedroom, ensuite, walk-in-robe, storage room and studio... and it looks great! Better still, our method and process for calculating wall heights is working, and we are seeing some very visible and satisfying results after all these days building the walls.
So after a few days back at work Peter will be building on Friday with Ivan (another super-star friend) and then we will both be back building together on Saturday. YAY!
