It's been so good to get back into more regular building, and we have reached the end of another phase of construction. A few days ago we had piles of walls lying on the floor waiting to be finished, braced and put up. Now there are none.
All walls are constructed and up. At the end of today I walked from room to room and really got a sense of size in three dimensions. The flow of the house is now apparent and that's jolly exciting. It also means that we're getting closer to roofing. Ah, to have a roof on will be wonderful. No building days lost to weather.
First we need to assemble the veranda post components so we have a place to fit the rafters on to. Otherwise they are floating in the breeze! So the timber is ordered and when that arrives we'll be back into cleaning out holes, compacting the holes back in around the posts, fitting bearers and also beams. It's all a bit familiar. At least we'll feel like seasoned pros this time.
