It has been a while since my last blog, due to having worked long days every day since the 12th of Feb. It's now the 28th and I'm getting quite achey and pained in many ways (not helped by a ladder fall) but the reason for the big push should make it all worthwhile. We need to get into the house! For this we need our Certificate of Occupancy and for this we need to meet a set of criteria and pass an inspection.
We've had so much help along the way, in the last week we've had massive support from Brenda in many areas and yesterday Aygun and John did a brilliant job of rendering and finishing off the base of the sub-floor. All the little details seem to take a lot of time when it comes down to it, but we think we have done enough to get in - the house is certainly far from finished but absolutely liveable. So tomorrow (Monday) I will call up the building surveyors and request an inspection. I'm numb to the fact that we're actually at this stage but at some time tomorrow we will know if we can move in, or if we need to fix some things up. Since we've never been through a house build before, we don't totally know what to expect. But I very much hope we get the go-ahead for many reasons, but mostly because it will be the culmination of many many months and hard, long, hot, cold, uncertain, enlightening, exciting, hilarious, frustrating work and the start of the next phase of our lives. Meanwhile, the building train keeps a-rolling. What will happen at inspection? We'll know tomorrow!
