I think we are in a state of denial! It's a long river too (the Nile that is). We are so so close now, our list of things to complete to get our C of O is quite short, even if some of them are time consuming. It's been such an incredible rollercoaster ride, that I think we can hardly believe we are almost at 'move in' stage. There are a few critical things in the wings: The Council are coming to approve the installation of the composting toilet; we are getting our wet areas properly sealed; sub-floor is being finished off by our fabulous contractor Alan; and clerestory fascia and other stuff needs to be completed. We also have some sections of the external walls to be rendered with a second coat.
If anyone fancies some rendering this weekend, your help would be most welcomed, as we are aiming for our inspection early next week.
We had a fabulous team working with us last weekend. Nic was back, with her fabbo friend Rich, Katrina (our rock) and Claire brought Rosemary (who was like a bull at a gate, what a worker) and we also had Mel (yes, again, she is unstopable) who was the master render and cob mixer. We also had experienced renderer Teresa, and local friends Kirsty and Bill - THANK YOU ALL! As always, we love visitors, and Tracey graced us with her presence too. Thanks to this crew, we were able to get HEAPS done, and it was a massive morale boost for Peter and I.
So now our oven is in (yay, baking here we come) our lights and electrical is finished, Alan has almost finished the sub-floor seal and we only have the shower to install for plumbing...... ooooh, so close. My mum is coming tomorrow to help me pack, and tonight I am going to call on all my guardian angels and higher beings to help us over this final hurdle: Gaining our Certificate of Occupancy.
