As I write this I am looking out of one of the studio windows, and the sunset is amazing. We are in heaven. Every day we count our blessings to be living here, with these incredible views, in this home that love built.

It's been over a week since we moved in, and we've still got mountains of boxes and lots of unpacking to do, but the stuff we really need is all set up, and it feels great!  We've had Peter's parents Sue and Ian visiting (in photo)Sue__Ian_preparing_for_action.jpg, all the way from Wellington in NZ, and it's been fantastic to share our new home with them. They were keen to get into some building, but the weather (and Peter's reluctance given the last few weeks of long hours' building etc) put a stop to that, so they bought us a top of the range clothes line and the three of us put it up. Fabulous, now it feels even home-lier!

In case you were wondering, no we didn't suffer any damage or leaking from the storms. We have built this house to last, and with all the extremes in weather we have experienced whilst building, we were very confident that this house could withstand that kind of weather without a problem. We loved watching the weather come in, and it felt great to be listening to and watching the torrential rain, safe and sound inside.

It is so incredibly quiet here! Dylan is 2 months old now, and is settling and sleeping better than ever, and we even had a night where he slept 6.5 hours, then another 3.5 after a feed and change. We all feel very peaceful. Everywhere we look we see and remember the generous friends and family who have helped us, every step of the way. It's hard to describe how special it is to have had so many hands build this home with us. It's so much more than a house.

We know that there is still lots to do before our building permit runs out in October, and we have a plan for the next things we will tackle, but for the moment we are enjoying some time to enjoy our new home a take a little breather!

1. Achievment
Without in any way wanting to sound condescending, you two make me extraordinarily proud. What you've achieved continues to blow me away. I can't wait to come and see the plot of land that I stood on a couple of years ago and see the 'not-so-little' straw house on the prairie. Life here is very good, but I can't wait to meet my little nephew.

2. Straw Bale Heaven and Haven
People talk about "any port in a storm". Your straw bale house was indeed a haven and heaven in the recent storm. It is a credit to you both that you have achieved so much and we felt very privileged to have been your first guests. We loved staying with you in your peaceful home and enjoying dear little Dylan, the kangaroos, the storm and most of all your company. Still stuff to do, but that will progress once you've got rid of the cardboard boxes! Hope to see you again before too long.
