Well it's been topsy turvy weather of late, that is for sure. It got to 34 degrees this afternoon, and at 8.30pm it's still very warm. A few days ago it didn't get above 12 degrees all day - and overall it's been blowing an absolute gale. I am sure that being nearly 6 months pregnant is adding to my very warm feelings in this heat. wet_area_baord__in_bathroom.jpg

One thing is for sure, we've got a serious high grass problem! Our Council has reminded us with a warning letter, so we have booked in some slashing for the weekend - fingers crossed. We are tossing up whether a ride on mower is the way to go... our closest 3 neighbours all have one, and their places look decidedly more fire safe than ours.....

In other news we have made some progress on the bathroom front, and it feels like we are progressing. Peter has installed the rest of the wet area board where the shower, bath and basin will go, and we are on to the next stage. However, to update from previous blogs, our hot water is not fixed. In fact, it's worse. This is no reflection on the efforts of our new plumbers, they have been fantastic, it's just that what they have tried so far has not worked. But we are ever hopeful!

I had a lovely drop in visitor today - Jan who I immediately remembered coming over to help one day when we were rendering. Jan was keen to get up the ladder that day, and I distinctly remember seeing her enjoying being up there rendering away on the North/West external walls. We love visitors, and she was equally excited to see the house 2 years on, and really enjoyed having a tour. North_Deck_02.jpg

We are loving having the louvre windows open at night and feeling the lovely breeze come through cooling the house down at night, and we are also really enjoying spending some time on our two now complete decks - the handrails and finishing touches really do make a difference.

I am off for another early night listening to the crickets and other lovely night noises. Arrhg, there is much to be thankful for!

1. burning up
Since you have a straw house, I'd recommend you take all precautions so that your home doesn't go up in flames. Change that furnace filter often...if it plugs up, it can hold in soot, resulting in a dangerous situation. You wouldn't want to see all of your hard work go up in smoke!
