We are really starting to appreciate just how great it is to have that glorious winter sunshine coming through our north-facing windows. It has been very cold, and very windy, and today's sunshine was a welcome relief!
It was -1 degrees outside this morning when we woke up at 6am, and a beautiful frost awaited us. They are pretty rare here, so we lapped it up and then I remembered that frost is great for parsnip, which we happen to have growing in our garden. Double the value! The kangaroos were all around the house, with little joeys sticking their heads out of their warm safe pouches for a look around and a nibble of grass. Divine!
It was 14 degrees inside the house this morning, which I didn't think was that bad considering we put the last small log on the fire about 8pm last night. It got to 16 outside, and we relished being in the garden and getting our new vegie patch prepared. We have a combination of worm castings, mushroom compost, our own food/plant compost, and some sheep and cow manure. So it will be rocking!
We've also bought a second hand shed off ebay. Peter went to great lengths to dismantle it, and it is in a pile awaiting Peter's trusty hands. Once we have the shed up we can move some things from my office into it, and then use my office as an office rather than a storage space, and get my office/work stuff out of Peter's music studio into my office. This will enable us to set up the studio properly. Peter had some friends come over this last week for a jam, and we are busting to get into some recording! Time to put this amazing shaped room with fantastic acoustics to work!
