It's officlal - we now have two loos. Now when our guests come and stay they don't have to come down to the other end of the house in the middle of the night to our ensuite to use the toilet. Peter is getting very good at maintaining our composting loos, and we do love them.

There are two things we particulrly love about them. One is that they don't require water to flush, and the second is that they never smell. Never. No matter how smelly the stuff is going into it, it just doesn't whiff. Way better than the conventional toilets where you have to hold your nose if someone does a mega smelly one before you need to use it.

Sorry if this is too explicit for some of you! Since having Dylan the depth and frequency of our poo conversations has expanded quite a lot, so we are very much used to it.

In other news, we are a bit stuck. We've done as much buidling as we can given our current bank balance (or lack thereof!) and Peter needs a job. As I write he is driving down the road to talk to some potential employers in the Bacchus Marsh/Melton area. Work in his field (film - sound editing) is pretty dry. Part-time work locally is what we are after, to supplement my work/income and get us moving on the build again.

I am also about to attack our website with some new areas and information. If you have any special request for info, please email us . I've also been looking through old video footage and it certainly is taking me back to all kinds of memories, some great, and some not so memorable! It's amazing how we have managed to forget some things that happened during the build.

It continues to be such an incredible journey. I was watching a re-run of a Grand Design program the other day and the couple being interviewed at the end of the process said they would definitely recommend building a house (design/managing, not the physical building of it) though a more simpler version of their house. They also said that one of the main advantages of designing and building your own house, was the quaility of life. We agree with both of these statements whole heartedly. Living in a home specifically designed and built for and by us, is priceless. There is simply nothing like it, and we appreciate and enjoy every minute we spend in our home. Bliss.

We are investigating at the moment for our own straw bale house to be built in the next couple of years.    Also wanted to say as a long time reader, first time poster how much I enjoy and value your site. I've been thinking about straw bale building for quite a few years and reading about your exploits and in particular the awesome photo gallery was a big factor in making my wife and I believe we could do it to.
