Well I shouldn't have jinxed myself by saying that the last blog was the longest in between blogs ever, because now it's even longer! Two months in fact! Before you convince yourself of our utter incompetence (partly true!) let me explain the circumstances! Firstly, I am now 20 weeks pregnant. Yep, nearly 40, and we are blessed to have another baby on the way. No, we don't know the sex, we like surprises of that kind. I felt horrible with 24-hour morning sickness until about 15 weeks, and would do anything to get horizontal, so my priorities have been else where! At the same time, Peter's work has really ramped up and his 'part time' job is often 6 days a week. Secondly, our local community has been hit with a huge social, environmental and health threat - that of Mantle Mining's plans for a 1-2 billion tonne open cut coal mine in our 'food bowl' Bacchus Marsh. I am a member of the Moorabool Environment Group (MEG) and we are the people who have been generating all the media attention and running the public meetings to inform our local community. It's been pretty full on and we have re-prioritised our building time so I can concentrate on supporting the campaign against the mining. If you would like more information, check out our website www.mooraboolmeg.org.au . We need all the help we can get! So on the house buildng front, Peter has finished the railing on the front deck and is about to put the final touches on the back deck railing, which is now much safer for our son. Photos to come! We have had quite a bit of rain over the last few weeks, including some rare hail, and the grass is going crazy, as is our vegie patch which is wonderful. We are hopeful of getting some milstones completed before our baby is born in Mid March. The projects include: Putting up our little shed so we can get some 'stuff' out of the house, enabling our office and studio to function as they were designed, getting our proper floor put down, and getting the bathroom completed (we have a fully functional ensuite). If you have emailed us in the past few months, please accept our sincere apologies, we have been snowed under. We promise to reply to you in the next week, and to put up more regular blogs! Thank you for your patience and support.
