Things have also been moving at Ari and Dean's house. Last weekend saw us travel to Malmsbury to their place where we had four fabulous people (Tim and Daniella, and Andrew and Josephine who found us via our website) come and help us render. It's always great to meet new people on their straw bale journey, and this was no exception. So Saturday saw us up bright and early getting our trusty (but in need of some serious maintenance) concrete mixer onto the ute and heading off for a rendering blitz.

I hadn't seen the house in 3 years, and it was fantastic to see how far it had come since we put the bale walls up. It has some beautiful shapes and angles (the roof particularly) and although we had Dylan to look after, which was not easy given the weather conditions and being on a building site, we got stuck in. I know I have said this before, but we love rendering! Despite all the rendering we have done, we have not tired of it. Dean had some great methods and knowedge to pass on to us all, and Ari (with little Issy in a sling on her back) was in fine form. 

Saturday came and went, and Sunday saw just Peter and I with Ari and Dean, rendering away to our hearts' content. By the end of the weekend in fairly bleak conditions, we had a good portion of the outside of the house covered in render, with the top part of most of the walls still to do. It was so good to get stuck into some good physical work, and get some momentum happening for Ari and Dean, and by Sunday night Peter and I had that tired bodily feeling that only good building work can give!

On another note, Peter has been building shelves in the wardrobe in bedwroom 3. It's been great to get our stuff packed away properly in the wardrobe. We've also been able to use our bargain second hand wardbrobe doors. Beautiful!

I have also been digging holes in preparation for planting some bare-rooted fruit trees, and we are very excited about expanding our vegie patch. Everything is moving along nicely. There is much to be thankful for.

He's a toddler!  Nice to hear your news.Thanks for the post.  Our build is ticking along slowly.SLOWLY...happy to report we have a caravan, sandpit, driveway, shed and some nice little gardens. Just no HOUSE. We've had a few issues (as you so often do with owner builds) but hopefully that will change and things will speed up. Well done on your work on the blog, and continueing to share.
