We've been making the most of the amazing weather we've been lucky enough to have over the last few weeks. A big clean up of the piles of 'stuff' at the back of the house has meant that we now how have a much better view from our lovely northern deck and lounge room window, we've been able to put in our much anticipated vegie patch, and we can finally get our driveway done now that everything is out of the way. WOOOHOOO!
Peter has also been working on some windows, which has been frustrating, laborious and very effective. To recap: we needed to cut through the nails holding the windows in, then jack the windows up and pack them underneath, remove the flashing, and re-do the render around the windows, particularly underneath, to create a decent slope for the water to run down (we had leaking windows, which is ot a good thing).
We also have a 3rd coat rendering weekend on 29th and 30th May, and we are looking forward to getting the trickier and more vulnerable walls sealed up with that magically good-looking final coat. And we have also finalised where the gravel drive way will go. Our soil is so clayey/sticky that with a decent bit of rain, our property is inaccessable. We and others have gotten quite bogged, so we will be very releived when our gravel drive way is done.
We have also been very excited about getting our vegie patch in. Our lovely neighbors have grown a fantastic no-dig vegie garden, and have even grown watermelon and canteloupe, so we are watching for our seeds to grow into seedlings with much anticipation.
In the meantime we will continue to plan our next bit of building work, and enjoy the views!
