Doors_on_ute.jpgWe've been buying second hand doors again on eBay. Six of them in fact. A great Monday evening hike yielded great results as the ute and I, armed only with directions all across Melbourne, and an iPhone (thanks Katrina) went in search of terrific bargains. I thought I was going to pick up 2 pairs of wardrobe doors from quite separate locations but the first pair are actually good to be used for internal doors and the second set became two sets, one pair for each bedroom. The total price for all 6 doors was $80.60 and all are in great condition.

The internal doors will need hardware - handles and the thingy that goes in and out (what is that called? I may have built an entire house but I don't know the name of that whatsamathingo) and they will go very nicely on bedroom 3 and the bathroom.  It's good timing for the bathroom because I'm working on that now, after using our ensuite as the main bathroom since moving in. I dug a nice deep absorption trench, laid the slotted ag pipe in and filled it with gravel. Feeding into the ag pipe is a 50mm pvc pipe that takes the excess liquid from our composting loo. I topped the whole thing off with weed matting and on that I've put back the soil that came from the digging of the trench. Trench complete.

I have to cut a hole in the bathroom floor to take the waste chute so I went out and bought a plunge router. I don't really get excited by tools but I've been wanting one of these for a while and I'm excited about using it. So cutting the hole is up next, then get the toilet ready to go, get it inspected and then move on to the rest of the bathroom.

Look out eBay, here we come again. Both of the transactions last night were with really nice people, accommodating and honest. This has been a theme of our eBay experience. Not only are we reusing materials but we are interacting with great people. It's a lot more fulfilling than a trip to Bunnings and there are so many great materials to be found. And a lot cheaper!
