Chipping away

On cold days there is a lot of temptation to do odds and ends inside but we still need to attend to weather tight issues outside. So I've been rendering the east wall, continuing what was mostly finished a couple of months ago. I also took on re-doing the render around a window after chipping away under the sill to ensure proper water flow. Rendering is fun, but on a windy day any job up a ladder is questionable. But as I hear the wind howling outside and the rain pelting the side of the house, I'm glad for every bit of weather proofing I can get done.

Whenever I work alone I keep myself entertained and occupied with podcasts or music, I have numerous playlists specifically for building and a lot of podcasts to get through. After listening to science podcasts I feel like I'm learning and working simultaneously. A good thing too because some building tasks are mind numbingly boring!

On another note, we are still trying to motivate our plumbers to come back as they have promised and fix our hot water. They were going to come on Friday or Saturday but there is no sign of them. It's been a long winter without a proper hot water service and the lesson has to be: take care who you take on as a plumber, no matter how nice, clever or helpful they may be, if they disappear for months on end they are useless! Changing plumbers halfway through a job is not ideal but it is now what we are faced with.

Enough of that, back to listening to the weather outside while I sit inside enjoying our house and its fantastic vibe.
